My friend Tara, the very girl who told me that I had to get involved with Beautycounter, was also the one who agreed with me that people don’t want to be sold stuff… especially on personal blogs and Twitter.
It’s true that in social media the minute someone tries to sell you their stuff, it can be a big turn off.
But I’ve got a job to do, and a forum to do it, which from the beginning I’ve used to speak the truth.
How about, I put myself out there to show my dear readers that I believe as strongly in the social mission of removing toxins from our lives (so that we can live more healthily), as I do in the equally as ah-ma-zing products.
Posting a close-up of myself online, without makeup, in natural light?
I don’t now if you’re buying. But give me some credit for being brave.
I promise I won’t inundate my readers with too much selly selly, but guys, I’m excited.
What are you excited about?
My 42 year-old skin after using Beautycounter’s Cream Cleanser, Nighttime Cream and Lustro Oil 2. If you saw me two weeks ago you’d know how much better my skin is looking. The biggest deal for me is that I’ve been able to curb the peeling problem that plagues me from my use of retinoids, and the constant t-zone break-outs from moisturizing products that (I now know from my research on EWG.org) contain toxins. Peeling and pimples are no fun. Neither is seeing my nose this close, but we’d need to a doctor to fix that.
The hub for all I do, marthawills.com documents life from a working mom's point of view. When not mothering, I manage the social media needs of small businesses through Wills Media Group, LLC, and write a weekly column for Raleigh's News & Observer online entitled, Are We There Yet? Most recently, my passion for health and wellness led me to become involved as a consultant for Beautycounter, a company that's making a difference by educating about toxins in products, spreading the word via the web.
